Many of you probably use LINE's call feature when you make phone calls on a regular basis. It is good to be able to talk without worrying about call charges. It is very convenient because you can make not only voice calls but also video calls for free. Have you ever wanted to record such LINE calls?
The LINE application itself does not have a function to record calls, but there are ways to record voice calls on LINE. Here are some tips on how to record LINE calls on your iPhone and Android.
The iPhone's IOS11 or later comes standard with a "screen recording " feature. By using this feature, you can record the call along with the iPhone screen. However, you cannot record a call as is. Preparation is required beforehand, so we will explain the settings.
First, let's set up the settings on the LINE side. Tap the gear symbol in the upper right corner of the screen. Even if the screen is different due to an update or other reason, it is OK if you can enter the settings.
Tap Settings→General→Calls and turn off the "Integrate with iPhone Basic Calls" feature. This completes the LINE settings. If you turn off the "Integrate with iPhone Basic Calls" feature, it will not appear in your iPhone call history, so we recommend that you leave it turned on.
If you do not have a problem with no call history, you can leave it off. You can leave it turned off if you don't mind not having a call history.
Next, let's look at the iPhone settings. iPhone users can swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up the Control Center and use frequently used functions with a single touch. It is essential to set up the Control Center so that screen recording functions can be activated from the Control Center.
Tap Settings > Control Center, and you will see " Included Controls" and "Add Control". If "Screen recording" is not among the included controls, find Screen recording from Add Control and tap the + button on the left to add it to the controls. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to see if it has been added to the Control Center. If you see an icon that looks like a double circle, it is OK.
Tap the icon, and if the 3-second countdown starts and the status bar at the top of the screen turns red, recording has started. To stop recording, tap the status bar or call up the Control Center and tap the icon again. The recorded video is saved in "Photos".
You can also swap the order of the icons in the Control Center by long pressing the three lines to the right of the included controls. Adjust them to a position that is easy to use.
Earphones are required to record calls using screen recording. The reason why an earphone is required is that it is against Apple's regulations for the iPhone's microphone to pick up the sound coming from the receiver during a call.
Although it is not illegal in Japan, some countries make it illegal to record the other party's voice during a call, so the application is basically unable to record the call. By connecting an earphone, the iPhone's microphone will not pick up the sound coming from the receiving part of the call, so it is possible to record the call with screen recording. Earphones without a microphone function are also acceptable. Be aware that this is an advance preparation that is often forgotten.
We have explained the preparations that can be made in advance. Please check the following conditions for being able to record calls based on these preparations.
If the above conditions are met, you can record LINE calls. If not, check the settings again.
Basically, the other party will not know that you are recording a LINE call. You will hear a beeping sound when you start recording the screen, but since it is done before the call is made, the other party will not hear it and will not be able to detect it. However, although it is not a crime, it is a matter of privacy, so you should explain the reason for recording the call to the other party and ask for permission before recording the call.
It is possible to record LINE calls on Android as well, either by using the screen recording feature like on the iPhone or by using an app.
Android has a screen recording feature similar to that of the iPhone. It is called "screen record" or "screen recording. The name may differ slightly from model to model, but the functionality remains the same.
Unlike the iPhone's screen recording, the microphone picks up outside sound even during a call. You can record a conversation by having the microphone pick up the other person's voice through the speaker. Since you are speaking through the speaker, you need to speak in a place where you will not disturb others, but you do not need to make various settings as you do with the iPhone.
You need to do some settings to be able to use Screen Record quickly on Android. Swipe the screen from top to bottom to bring up the Quick Settings panel. If there are no screen records here, you will need to add them to appear.

There are several voice recording apps for Android, so here are three: The first is AZ Screen Recorder.
The initial setup is very simple and once launched, you just need to overlay it with other apps and grant permissions to view and access the device. After that, the gear symbol in the upper right corner is Settings, so tap it, turn on Record audio, and set Audio source to Internal audio. That completes the setup.
When you are ready to use the app, tap the app icon and a camera button for recording will appear at the edge of the screen. Simply tap permission to access the device and permission to record audio, and press Start Now to start screen recording.
The second is Call Recording - Cube ACR.
When recording a call, you have to start a screen recording or recording application at a moment's notice. To be honest, it is hard to deal with calls that may come in at any moment, and Cube AC R is an app that has an automatic recording feature. While many apps do not support LINE calls, Cube ACR does.
After launching Cube ACR, tap the ≡ in the upper left corner. Turn on Enable Recording, move down and tap Recording, check Auto Record and you are done. When you start a call, recording will begin automatically. If you do not want auto-recording, turn it off, and when the person you want to record calls you, just tap the microphone icon.
The third is the "Call Recorder.
In addition to recording and saving calls, recorded files can be searched by contact, phone number, or notes. This eliminates the problem of wanting to listen to a recorded conversation again, but wondering which file it is.
You can also save calls and share them to Google Drive or Dropbox, but don't make unauthorized audio recordings available for third parties to listen to, as it is a matter of privacy. Keep it to the extent that only you can check your schedule and appointments.
LINE has a feature called Chat Live that allows you to relay video with multiple members participating in a group talk. You can enjoy chatting with up to 500 people, which is the maximum number of participants in a group chat. There are two types of calls: voice calls and video calls. This function allows you to swipe the screen to see the icons and faces of the participants while talking with them. Live chat can also be recorded if you have a screen recording function or application. For iPhone, it is screen recording; for Android, it is screen recording.
When someone starts a call to open a chat live, everyone in the group will be notified. It is a good idea to screen record at this point; open the LINE talk room and press "Join" to join the call. You can record the call without the other person knowing about it.
We have introduced how to record LINE calls on iPhone and Android. Although a lot of preparation is required in advance, we recommend that those who have calls or live chats that they wish to record should set up the recording in advance. Please be sure to record the call with the permission of the person you are talking to, to ensure privacy.
